Pitching, starting pitching, is the most definitive area of need for San Diego and to address that need, it appears Padres general manager A.J. Preller will turn to the trade market. Ironically, he is having conversations with the New York Mets, which include possibly trading starter Nick Pivetta who was dominant in his first year in San Diego.
