(Supplied: Pat Cahill)<\/p>\n<p>Cloud cover and change in temperature<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">Monday is forecast to bring cloud cover with a chance of isolated showers across the south-east.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">Temperatures are expected to remain warm, with Brisbane forecast to hit a maximum of 34 degrees. The Gold Coast&#8217;s maximum is 31, while Maroochydore&#8217;s is 32.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">Gladstone is forecast to reach a maximum of 32 degrees, while temperatures could hit 38 in Longreach and 38 in Mt Isa.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">Townsville, Mackay and Cairns are all forecast to reach a maximum of 33 degrees.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">The Bureau of Meteorology&#8217;s Jordi Cairol said while forecasters were &#8220;not expecting much precipitation&#8221; on Monday, Tuesday would bring a change.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"A woman wearing a pink top and flowery skirt walks under an umbrella in the rain in Brisbane\" class=\"Image_image__5tFYM ContentImage_image__DQ_cq\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/a4d2e7777f827e0b6e37a1bad30c9335\" loading=\"lazy\" data-component=\"Image\" data-lazy=\"true\"\/><\/p>\n<p class=\"Typography_base__sj2RP FigureCaption_text__zDxQ5 Typography_sizeMobile12__w_FPC Typography_lineHeightMobile20___U7Vr Typography_regular__WeIG6 Typography_colourInherit__dfnUx\" data-component=\"Typography\">The weather bureau is forecasting lower temperatures and more rain this week. (ABC News: Lucas Hill)<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">&#8220;We are expecting more showers and thunderstorms, particularly around the Sunshine Coast, which could have moderate falls of 20 to 25 millimetres,&#8221; he said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">&#8220;Tuesday&#8217;s cloud cover will also bring a significant change in temperature, it could drop 5 to 6 degrees down to about 28.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">Mr Cairol said weather in the state&#8217;s south-east was broadly expected to clear from Wednesday, with showers &#8220;less likely&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>Severe storms forecast\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">While the weather is forecast to remain relatively mild in the south-east, Mr Cairol said things could be more extreme in central Queensland.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.abc.net.au\/news\/2025-12-01\/seq-how-to-deal-with-stormwater-runoff-property\/106054680\" data-component=\"FullBleedLink\" class=\"RelatedCard_link__rsgR9 FullBleedLink_root__lTw_U interactive_focusContext__yRhc_ interactive_defaults__AKxUU FullBleedLink_showVisited__g3Xvz\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">What are your options if stormwater runoff damages your property?<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"Typography_base__sj2RP RelatedCard_synopsis__cFwMW Typography_sizeMobile14__u7TGe Typography_lineHeightMobile20___U7Vr Typography_regular__WeIG6 Typography_colourInherit__dfnUx\" data-component=\"Typography\">Who&#8217;s responsible if your property experiences runoff during heavy rainfall, and what can you do about it?<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">&#8220;We are expecting severe storms with a risk of heavy rainfall,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">&#8220;On Tuesday, it will extend towards the southern interior and even reaching the Sunshine Coast and Darling Downs, and the New South Wales border.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">Mr Cairol said the storms were forecast to bring heavy rainfall and damaging winds, but no hail was expected.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">In north Queensland, a heatwave warning remains in place for Cape York Peninsula, but that is expected to ease in the coming days.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">Temperatures in the state&#8217;s north have been slightly below average this month, according to the BOM, and showers are expected from Tuesday to Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>South-east still recovering from severe storms<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">Many residents are still feeling the effects of days of <a class=\"Link_link__kR0xA Link_link__5eL5m ScreenReaderOnly_srLinkHint__OysWz Link_showVisited__C1Fea Link_showFocus__ALyv2\" href=\"https:\/\/www.abc.net.au\/news\/2025-11-29\/more-storms-ahead-for-queensland-possible-hail-flash-floods\/106078390\" data-component=\"Link\" data-uri=\"coremedia:\/\/article\/106078390\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">storms that lashed parts of the state<\/a>, especially the south-east, in late November.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">Thousands were left without power for days after strong winds, hail and flooding took out power infrastructure and damaged homes.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">Six storms over the past three months have brought hail, with the state seeing <a class=\"Link_link__kR0xA Link_link__5eL5m ScreenReaderOnly_srLinkHint__OysWz Link_showVisited__C1Fea Link_showFocus__ALyv2\" href=\"https:\/\/www.abc.net.au\/news\/2025-11-25\/south-east-queensland-hailstorms-frequency\/106049808\" data-component=\"Link\" data-uri=\"coremedia:\/\/article\/106049808\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">more than double the usual occurrences of giant hail<\/a> than usual since July.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Hail next to a hand\" class=\"Image_image__5tFYM ContentImage_image__DQ_cq\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/a66c545e0d83892977df5a80851133fc\" loading=\"lazy\" data-component=\"Image\" data-lazy=\"true\"\/><\/p>\n<p class=\"Typography_base__sj2RP FigureCaption_text__zDxQ5 Typography_sizeMobile12__w_FPC Typography_lineHeightMobile20___U7Vr Typography_regular__WeIG6 Typography_colourInherit__dfnUx\" data-component=\"Typography\">Mitchelton residents said they found hail the size of their hands during storms in November.
