CHICAGO (WLS) — A Chicago firefighter was seriously injured while battling a fire on the city’s Far South Side on Sunday afternoon, officials said.<\/p>\n

The Chicago Fire Department said firefighters responded to a fire at a home near East 135th Street and South Avenue M.<\/p>\n

At one point, a firefighter went missing in the basement, and a mayday was called, CFD said.<\/p>\n

CFD said that firefighter suffered a lower leg injury and was taken to Little Company of Mary Hospital in serious condition.<\/p>\n

The fire is now under control, and no other injuries were reported.<\/p>\n

CFD is investigating the cause of the fire.<\/p>\n
