R&B singer Trey Songz was busted for punching a Manhattan nightclub employee in the face Sunday in a tantrum over being told the spot was closing, prosecutors said.<\/p>\n

The 41-year-old singer, whose real name is Tremaine Aldon Neverson, was partying with his crew at Times Square spot Dramma Night Club when a worker told him it was closing time at around 4 a.m. \u2014 sparking him to become \u201cneedlessly irate,\u201d prosecutors said in Manhattan criminal court.<\/p>\n

Neverson appeared in court Sunday as he was arraigned on an assault charge for the club clash and a additional charge of mischief in the second degree charge from an unrelated Dec. 6 incident. Details of that case weren\u2019t immediately available.<\/p>\n

The \u201cMr. Steal Your Girl\u201d singer sported a black face mask as he was released on his own recognizance. The worker was granted an order of protection against Neverson, who is apparently a regular at the night spot, according to prosecutors.<\/p>\n

He declined comment as he hopped into a black SUV after his appearance.<\/p>\n

\u201cHave a good night, brother,\u201d Neverson told a photographer seeking comment.<\/p>\n

His attorney Mitchell Schuster said in a statement that the incident overnight Saturday into Sunday began when Neverson was confronted by individuals \u201cwho instigated a confrontation and attempted to surround him.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cHis security intervened toprotect him and contain the situation, and an altercation occurred in the ensuring confusion,\u201d Schuster said in a statement. \u201cDespite being the target of the initial provocation, Trey was arrested.<\/p>\n

\u201cPublic figures are often treated as targets for instigation in pursuit of headlines or financial gain,\u201d he went on. \u201cTrey is cooperating fully in both matters, and we are confident the full context and facts will come to light.\u201d<\/p>\n

The feisty music artist has had his share of legal run-ins. In 2016, he was charged with aggravated assault and\u00a0has been accused of<\/a>\u00a0rape and sexual assault.<\/p>\n
