<\/strong>As crews continue to battle a wildfire near Kelowna International Airport, police have begun to evacuate nearby residents. <\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u201cKelowna RCMP are currently responding to a growing wildfire in the Ellison area, affecting Rockface Road, Upper Booth Road and Dead Pine Road,\u201d stated police. <\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u201cOfficers are conducting tactical evacuations of homes in the area and are asking residents to prepare for a possible evacuation.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"reddit-embed-bq\" data-embed-height=\"546\" style=\"height:500px\"><p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/kelowna\/comments\/1ltfgqt\/ellison_fire_update\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ellison fire update<\/a><br \/>by<a href=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/user\/simonsayzdumbthings\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">u\/simonsayzdumbthings<\/a> in<a href=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/kelowna\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">kelowna<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Police added that the Kelowna Fire Department is at the scene, attacking the blaze that is currently burning uphill toward Postill Lake and other nearby lakes that have cabins and campsites. <\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u201cKelowna RCMP are advising the public in those areas above Ellison to leave as a precaution,\u201d added the RCMP.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAlthough it is not yet known whether the fire will reach the lakes, there are limited access roads for evacuation from the surrounding forested areas.\u201d<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The public is reminded to stay away from the area and that general members of the public will not be allowed into the evacuation zone. <\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The BC Wildfire Service (BCWS) has stated that humans are the suspected cause of the wildfire and the service\u2019s size estimate remains at two hectares. <\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">An online flight radar and social media posts show several aircraft in the area working on the wildfire.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Because of the wildfire and firefighting aircraft, all <a href=\"https:\/\/ylw.kelowna.ca\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">arrivals and departures<\/a> at Kelowna International Airport have been suspended until further notice. <\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><strong>(Original story: July 6 @ 4:25 pm) &#8211;<\/strong>A wildfire has begun behind Kelowna International Airport.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">According to the BC Wildfire Service, the blaze is estimated to be two hectares in size. <\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"&lt;who&gt;
