FORT WORTH, Texas \u2014 Sabar Barbecue, which was recently honored as one of the state’s best barbecue joints by Texas Monthly, will close this weekend, its owner announced.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Sabar, which operated out of a blue trailer parked in Fort Worth’s Near Southside, will serve its last meals Saturday, Dec. 20, according to an Instagram post from the restaurant.<\/a> Sabar’s owner, 36-year-old Zain Shafi, said he will close the trailer to pursue an opportunity “that we couldn\u2019t pass on,” he wrote.\u00a0<\/p>\n “Life moves fast. Just a few weeks ago, we were planning another smoker, working toward a brick-and-mortar, and adding Fridays to our service days\u2026 and now we\u2019re closing,” Shafi wrote.\u00a0<\/p>\n Shafi is an alumnus of the lauded Goldee’s Barbecue located south of Fort Worth. After being open just two years, Sabar earned a coveted spot on Texas Monthly’s annual Top 50 list.\u00a0<\/p>\n Sabar’s menu featured traditional brisket alongside tandoori turkey and Pakistani-inspired sides like Daal Chawaal and Fruit Chaat.\u00a0<\/p>\n “Thank you to everyone who supported us over the past two years\u2014especially our regulars,” the post reads. “It\u2019s been an honor sharing our Pakistani-influenced Texas BBQ with Fort Worth.”<\/p>\n It’s not clear what Shafi may pursue next.\u00a0<\/p>\n
