{"id":449365,"date":"2025-12-15T20:25:15","date_gmt":"2025-12-15T20:25:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/449365\/"},"modified":"2025-12-15T20:25:15","modified_gmt":"2025-12-15T20:25:15","slug":"parole-assists-in-san-diego-gun-safety-event","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/449365\/","title":{"rendered":"Parole assists in San Diego gun safety event"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Nearly 140 unwanted firearms are now off the streets following a gun safety event hosted by the San Diego County Sheriff\u2019s Department in South Bay Chula Vista over the weekend. <\/p>\n<p>The Dec. 13 event was organized by the sheriff\u2019s department in partnership with the Chula Vista Police Department, CDCR\u2019s Division of Adult Parole Operations, National City Police Department, and the San Diego County District Attorney\u2019s Office.<\/p>\n<p>Held at the South Bay Superior Court House, the event resulted in the collection of 138 firearms, including handguns, rifles, shotguns, and assault weapons. <\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"845\" data-id=\"48121\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/Gun-event-Group-photo-scaled-e1765827133478-1024x845.jpg\" alt=\"parole agents assist in a gun safety event in San Diego.\" class=\"wp-image-48121\"  \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"703\" data-id=\"48120\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/Eent-pic-3-1024x703.jpg\" alt=\"Guns turned in during a gun safety event in San Diego.\" class=\"wp-image-48120\"  \/><\/p>\n<p>In exchange, participants received gift cards valued at $100 for standard firearms and $200 for assault-style weapons. The event also offered free gun cable locks to anyone requesting one. The locks help ensure safe storage for those who choose to keep firearms in their homes.<\/p>\n<p>All turned-in firearms will be processed. If any are found to be stolen, authorities will attempt to return them to their rightful owners. Weapons connected to crimes will be referred to the appropriate law enforcement agency.
