Tellum, Marilyn Jane,
\n Antigonish<\/p>\n
It is with profound sadness that we announce the
\n passing of Marilyn Jane Tellum (nee MacKenzie) of Antigonish on
\n December 13, 2025 at St. Martha’s Regional
\n Hospital.<\/p>\n
Born on June 29, 1944 in New Waterford, NS, Marilyn
\n was the eldest daughter of John O “Jack” and Pauline
\n (MacKay) MacKenzie.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Marilyn is survived by her loving husband of 59 years,
\n George; daughter Stephanie Edwards (Lukas and Dina) and son David
\n (Christena), both of Antigonish; grandchildren David, Michael, Miah,
\n Ailish, and Josiah; sisters Sharon Stone (Carmon) of Halifax and
\n Heather Kennedy (George) of Kentville.<\/p>\n
Marilyn moved to Antigonish in 1966 with husband
\n George while he was completing his B.Ed degree at St. Francis Xavier
\n University. During her years in Antigonish, Marilyn held many
\n positions, notably Secretary to Principal John Proctor at Antigonish
\n Rural High School, Personnel Training & Development Manager
\n for Canada Manpower, Manager of the Heatherton Credit Union. Marilyn
\n ended her career as Office Manager of the St. Francis Xavier
\n University Extension Department under Dr. Theresa
\n MacNeil.<\/p>\n
Marilyn was a voracious reader and delighted in
\n completing crosswords, notably the NYT puzzle. She spent many hours in
\n creative pursuits, knitting and crocheting for family and friends.
\n Many pieces of her cross stitch art adorn our walls and her tole
\n paintings and ceramic art decorate our homes during the holiday
\n season.<\/p>\n
A devoted fan of the Detroit Tigers , Marilyn enjoyed
\n her retirement years spent in Lakeland, Florida where she cheered on
\n the team during spring training. Weekend evenings could be spent with
\n friends playing Trivial Pursuit or heated games of auction. Marilyn
\n especially enjoyed her Thanksgiving weekends in Ingonish with the
\n whole “Antigonish Crew”. And on special occasions, she
\n enjoyed the odd glass of wine. Purely for medicinal purposes, of
\n course!\u00a0<\/p>\n
Marilyn had many loves, but none more than her
\n cherished grandchildren. And they in turn, adored their
\n Nana.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0No one ever left Marilyn’s home
\n with an empty tummy, and always with a heart full of love and
\n laughter.Our hearts are broken at our loss, but we are comforted by
\n our many years of joyful memories.<\/p>\n
The family wishes to extend heartfelt thanks to all
\n the staff of 3rd floor, St. Martha’s. Their compassionate care helped
\n ease a difficult time.<\/p>\n
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held
\n Wednesday, December 17, 7 to 9 pm in C L Curry Funeral Home, 135
\n College St, Antigonish.<\/p>\n
Memorial donations may be made to the Antigonish Food
\n Bank or the Palliative Care Unit of St. Martha’s Regional Hospital.
