\n\tFollowing a nearly 60-year onscreen career, Michael Douglas<\/a>\u2018 leading man days might be in the past.<\/p>\n

\n\tAt the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival<\/a>, the 2x Oscar winner recently noted that unless \u201csomething special came up\u201d for him to play, he has \u201cno real intentions\u201d of returning to acting<\/a> in the future.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI\u2019ve had a very busy career. Now, I have not worked since 2022, purposefully, because I realized I had to stop,\u201d he explained during a press conference<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI\u2019d been working pretty hard for almost 60 years, and I did not want to be one of those people who dropped dead on the set,\u201d added Douglas. \u201cI\u2019m very happy with taking the time off. I have no real intentions. But I say I\u2019m not retired, because if something special came up, I\u2019d go back. But otherwise, I\u2019m quite happy. I just like to watch my wife work.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe comment comes after Douglas teased Deadline in December that he\u2019s \u201cflirting with\u201d the idea of making a \u201cgood horror\u201d movie<\/a> in the near future.<\/p>\n

\n\tAfter undergoing chemotherapy for his stage IV cancer diagnosis in 2010, Douglas noted at KVIFF that he \u201cwas lucky to continue working,\u201d avoiding a form of tongue cancer that would have removed part of his jaw and limited his ability to speak.<\/p>\n

\n\tDouglas is currently at KVIFF for the 50th anniversary of One Flew Over the Cuckoo\u2019s Nest<\/a> to present a newly restored version<\/a> of the Milo\u0161 Forman film, which Douglas produced with Saul Zaentz.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Following a nearly 60-year onscreen career, Michael Douglas\u2018 leading man days might be in the past.
