{"id":449794,"date":"2025-12-16T00:39:16","date_gmt":"2025-12-16T00:39:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/449794\/"},"modified":"2025-12-16T00:39:16","modified_gmt":"2025-12-16T00:39:16","slug":"rain-and-isolated-storms-to-hit-parts-of-queensland-as-temperatures-drop","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/449794\/","title":{"rendered":"Rain and isolated storms to hit parts of Queensland as temperatures drop"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">Storms and heavy rainfall are again forecast to hit large parts of Queensland today, with temperatures expected to drop across much of the sunshine state.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">Flood cameras show some minor flooding in the Noosa region after the area experienced heavy rainfall overnight and throughout the morning.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">At Bec Tardent&#8217;s home in Parklands, things were extremely wet.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">Ms Tardent said the storm cell appeared to have &#8220;dumped rain&#8221; over Noosa all night and she had moved her outdoor furniture inside while using sandbags to keep the rain out of her home.<\/p>\n<p>Loading&#8230;<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">Bureau of Meterology (BOM) data showed Tewantin received 180 millimetres of rain to 9am.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">South-east Queensland is expected to be cloudy for most of the day, with a chance of rain in Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast during the afternoon.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">Brisbane is expected to hit a maximum of 29 degrees Celsius, while Noosa Heads and Surfers Paradise are set for 27C and 28C.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">Rockhampton and Mackay are expected to reach 32C, while Cairns could hit 33C and Townsville 34C.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">Toowoomba is not expected to get hotter than 26C.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"water on road\" class=\"Image_image__5tFYM ContentImage_image__DQ_cq\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/bc414ba378da212d246cc10a2ea2e80d\" loading=\"lazy\" data-component=\"Image\" data-lazy=\"true\"\/><\/p>\n<p class=\"Typography_base__sj2RP FigureCaption_text__zDxQ5 Typography_sizeMobile12__w_FPC Typography_lineHeightMobile20___U7Vr Typography_regular__WeIG6 Typography_colourInherit__dfnUx\" data-component=\"Typography\">There were wet roads in the Noosa region on Tuesday morning.\u00a0 (Supplied)<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">Shane Kennedy from the Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) said the south-east corner will enjoy a &#8220;few days off&#8221; from the worst of the heat before temperatures ramp back up.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">&#8220;As we move towards the end of the week though, those temperatures are back to average and even pushing above average as we move into the weekend,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p>Severe storm warning lifted<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">Mr Kennedy said there was potential for severe thunderstorms in the southern and central interior and a low chance of one or two thunderstorms in the south east.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"A map of south-east Queensland, with a red storm cell near Noosa.\" class=\"Image_image__5tFYM ContentImage_image__DQ_cq\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/7567d23f26291795e614c4bc860c092c\" loading=\"lazy\" data-component=\"Image\" data-lazy=\"true\"\/><\/p>\n<p class=\"Typography_base__sj2RP FigureCaption_text__zDxQ5 Typography_sizeMobile12__w_FPC Typography_lineHeightMobile20___U7Vr Typography_regular__WeIG6 Typography_colourInherit__dfnUx\" data-component=\"Typography\">A severe storm warning was issued by the BOM about 7:30am Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">An earlier severe storm warning issued by the BOM about 7:30am for the Sunshine Coast was lifted at 8:30am.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">The BOM warned the redevelopment of severe thunderstorms remained possible, however.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">A southerly change stalled inland of the Sunshine Coast, helping to create slow-moving heavy showers and thunderstorm activity.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">Windy conditions are also expected across the south east with strong wind warnings for the Sunshine Coast and Gold Coast waters.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">Residents are advised to monitor the radar and thunderstorm warnings.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Storm over Bribie Island\" class=\"Image_image__5tFYM ContentImage_image__DQ_cq\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/2a50947bd70b9a38f45e146a751ba9c6\" loading=\"lazy\" data-component=\"Image\" data-lazy=\"true\"\/><\/p>\n<p class=\"Typography_base__sj2RP FigureCaption_text__zDxQ5 Typography_sizeMobile12__w_FPC Typography_lineHeightMobile20___U7Vr Typography_regular__WeIG6 Typography_colourInherit__dfnUx\" data-component=\"Typography\">Storms are expected across parts of south-east Queensland.
