We did not get that from our president, because he has none of it to give. Instead, we got a fool rambling about nonsense,\u201d Kimmel said. \u201cFor Rob and Michele Reiner, we got this post.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tKimmel then recited Trump\u2019s Monday morning <a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/2025\/film\/news\/donald-trump-rob-reiner-dead-trump-derangement-syndrome-1236608923\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Truth Social post<\/a>, which read, \u201cA very sad thing happened last night in Hollywood. Rob Reiner, a tortured and struggling, but once very talented movie director and comedy star, has passed away, together with his wife, Michele, reportedly due to the anger he caused others through his massive, unyielding, and incurable affliction with a mind crippling disease known as TRUMP DERANGEMENT SYNDROME, sometimes referred to as TDS.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tThe president continued, \u201cHe was known to have driven people CRAZY by his raging obsession of President Donald J. Trump, with his obvious paranoia reaching new heights as the Trump Administration surpassed all goals and expectations of greatness, and with the Golden Age of America upon us, perhaps like never before. May Rob and Michele rest in peace!\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t\u201cIt\u2019s so hateful and vile,\u201d Kimmel said of the post. \u201cWhen I first saw it, I thought it was fake. My wife showed it to me this morning. I was like, \u2018Even for him, that seemed like too much.\u2019 But nothing is ever too much for him.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tKimmel then turned his attention to an Oval Office press conference, where Trump was given \u201cthe chance to take another shot to act like a human being\u201d and take back his post on Reiner. Trump instead doubled down.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t\u201cI wasn\u2019t a fan of his at all,\u201d Trump told reporters Monday. \u201cHe was a deranged person as far as Trump is concerned. He knew it was false. In fact, it\u2019s the exact opposite. He said I was a friend of Russia, controlled by Russia. You know, the Russia hoax. He was one of the people behind it. I think he hurt himself career-wise. He became like a deranged person. Trump derangement syndrome. So, I was not a fan of Rob Reiner at all, in any way, shape or form. I thought he was very bad for our country.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t\u201cThat corroded brain is in charge of our lives,\u201d Kimmel said. \u201cIf you voted for that, it\u2019s okay to reconsider. It\u2019s perfectly fine. I have to say, I know from my personal interactions with Rob Reiner that he would want us to keep pointing out the loathsome atrocities that continue to ooze out of this sick and irresponsible man\u2019s mouth. So we\u2019re going to do that over and over again until the rest of us wake up.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tKimmel wasn\u2019t the only late-night host to discuss Reiner. While not discussing it during the show, Colbert opened his Monday night broadcast with a preface in light of Reiner\u2019s death, as well as the shootings at Bondi Beach and Brown University. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t\u201cHello, everybody,\u201d a somber Colbert said at his desk. \u201cNormally, we start the show with a short cold open about a major news story of the day. But after the terrible news this past weekend, the horrifying Hanukkah massacre at Bondi Beach, the tragic shootings at Brown University and the heartbreaking deaths of Rob and Michele Reiner, all of the major stories are too dark for that. Other people\u2019s tragedy is sacred ground, and we try very hard not to walk there. But we are going to do a comedy show tonight, in light of and in spite of the darkness.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tReiner, a prolific filmmaker who broke into Hollywood starring in \u201cAll in the Family\u201d before directing films like \u201cStand by Me,\u201d \u201cWhen Harry Met Sally\u2026,\u201d \u201cThis Is Spinal Tap\u201d and \u201cA Few Good Men,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/2025\/film\/news\/rob-reiner-dead-princess-bride-spinal-tap-1236608541\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">was found stabbed to death<\/a> Sunday afternoon in his Brentwood home alongside his wife of 36 years, Michele Singer. Reiner was 78 and Singer was 68.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tNick Reiner, the son of Rob and Michele, <a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/2025\/film\/news\/rob-reiner-son-nick-police-custody-death-director-wife-1236608760\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">was arrested<\/a> on Sunday at 9:15 p.m. and booked on Monday at 5:05 a.m. on suspicion of his parents\u2019 murder, per the Los Angeles County Sheriff\u2019s Department online records.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tLAPD Chief Jim McDonnell confirmed during a Monday morning press conference that Nick Reiner had been \u201cbooked for murder.\u201d He added that it was a \u201cvery, very tragic incident.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tCharges have not been filed.
