The Bradley Beal era may soon be over, as reports have indicated the former All-Star guard could be bought out by the Phoenix Suns in the near future.<\/p>\n

Arizona Sports\u2019 John Gambadoro said Sunday morning he expected a resolution to the ordeal \u201cin the next 24-48 hours<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n

NBA insider Marc Stein later reported Beal has been \u201cactively exploring<\/a>\u201d potential suitors in the event he\u2019s bought out. The guard will have \u201cconsiderable interest\u201d from teams once on the open market, Stein added.<\/p>\n

Beal is currently set to earn about $53.7 million in 2025-26, more than any other Sun. He has a player option at $57.1 million for the following season.<\/p>\n

Why is a potential Bradley Beal buyout complicated?<\/p>\n

Waiving Beal and stretching his remaining two years over five seasons is one avenue to a buyout agreement, but the Suns cannot do so<\/a> unless their total stretched money does not exceed 15% of the salary cap.<\/p>\n

Beal\u2019s amount ($22.1 million) is only 14.3% of the $154.647 million cap for 2025-26.<\/p>\n

However, he would not be the only waived-and-stretched player on the books. The Suns last summer waived and then stretched forwards Nassir Little ($3.1 million) and E.J. Liddell ($706,898), and their combined salaries would push the Suns beyond the 15%. Beal would have to give up some\u00a0money to depart Phoenix with the waive-and-stretch provision.<\/p>\n

The necessary gift on his end to help the Suns would amount to $2.7 million a year, which multiplies to $13.8 million in full,\u00a0The Athletic\u2019s\u00a0Fred Katz reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n

That sacrifice is not out of the realm of possibilities, but an obvious hurdle. For example, former Suns center Deandre Ayton pushed for a buyout<\/a>\u00a0from the Portland Trail Blazers on the last year of his $35 million contract. He gave up $10 million of that,\u00a0reports Jake Fischer<\/a>, because he had that strong of a desire to find a new home.<\/p>\n

Beal could recuperate some of the surrendered money with his new team, similar to how Ayton is doing so with the Los Angeles Lakers.<\/p>\n

Waiving and stretching Beal would get Phoenix out of the second apron that keeps them from numerous avenues for roster construction.<\/p>\n
