A SWAT unit was also dispatched to the scene.

During the incident, San Diego police asked residents and nearby commuters via social media to avoid the area due to the ongoing incident.

Heading into late Tuesday afternoon, officers decided to use less-lethal methods to remove the man from the apartment, dropping tear gas and sending a dog into the unit.

The cause and extent of the injuries to the police dog were not immediately known.

The man eventually left the apartment and was taken into custody soon after, Steinbroner said.

No other information about the incident was immediately available.

A San Diego police dog was injured during a SWAT standoff at a Gaslamp Quarter apartment complex on…

[5134
5229,1582,276,5295,43631,1370,728,50,3549,3550,7264,7289,67,586,132,5230,68,2969
0":"post-452185","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-san-diego","8":"tag-america","9":"tag-ca","10":"tag-california","11":"tag-crime-and-public-safety","12":"tag-gaslamp-quarter","13":"tag-latest-headlines","14":"tag-local-news","15":"tag-news","16":"tag-san-diego","17":"tag-san-diego-county","18":"tag-sandiego","19":"tag-top-stories-sdut","20":"tag-united-states","21":"tag-united-states-of-america","22":"tag-unitedstates","23":"tag-unitedstatesofamerica","24":"tag-us","25":"tag-usa
["GET
