Greg Abbott and everyone in Texas on the ongoing rescue and recovery efforts.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe&#8217;ve been in touch with Governor Abbott and very close to Governor Abbott. And, everybody in Texas. Kristi Noem is, as you know, been there and will continue to be there. And we&#8217;re working very close with representatives from Texas,\u201d Trump said.<\/p>\n<p>\n\u201cAnd it&#8217;s a horrible thing that took place. Absolutely horrible. So we say, God bless all of the people that have gone through so much, and God bless the state of Texas. This incredible place,\u201d he continued.<\/p>\n<p>When asked if the federal government needed to hire back any meteorologists who were fired, Trump said what happened was unexpected.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis was a thing that happened in seconds. Nobody expected it. Nobody saw it. Very talented people are there, and they didn&#8217;t see it,\u201d Trump explained. \u201cIt\u2019s, I guess they said once in 100 years they&#8217;ve never seen anything like that. I mean, people are trying to blame the school. They&#8217;re trying to blame the camps. It&#8217;s just a horrible thing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Trump called the deadly flooding a \u201ccatastrophe.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI would just say this is a 100 year catastrophe, and it&#8217;s just so horrible to watch,\u201d Trump said.<\/p>\n<p>Trump said he was also planning on visiting Texas, \u201cprobably on Friday.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\n\u201cWe want to leave a little time. I would have done it today, but we&#8217;d just be on their way.
