\u201cAnd when I go back now, I think, \u2018Does it feel different to me because I\u2019m not working here anymore or has it really changed?\u2019 And I think there is a little bit of a sadness about it that I think is real, and it\u2019s not just because of my experience,\u201d Heaton added.<\/p>\n

She said a lot of writers from her previous shows \u2014 \u201cEverybody Loves Raymond\u201d and \u201cThe Middle\u201d \u2014 left and went back to their hometowns.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe just got an email from a writer saying, \u2018You got out at the right time,’\u201d Heaton said. She noted that there were now sound\u00a0stages in LA\u00a0that were empty.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cWhere we shot \u2018The Middle,\u2019 which is on Warner Ranch, which is around the corner from Warner Brothers. And it used to house like the \u2018Walton\u2019 house and the \u2018Lethal Weapon\u2019 house and the \u2018Bewitched\u2019 house and the \u2018Friends\u2019 Fountain was all there. And that was all razed to the ground, and they built a ton of soundstages. And then the pandemic happened and the strikes all happened, and there\u2019s just a bunch of empty soundstages there now,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

After the fires in LA earlier this year, Heaton teamed up with LA Dream Center to help residents in need and\u00a0criticized local and state officials\u00a0for their response. She said the city didn\u2019t seem prepared for the fires, which began burning Jan. 7 in the Pacific Palisades neighborhood.<\/p>\n
\u201cI know some of the officials were saying, \u2018Well, the system was overwhelmed.\u2019 Well, in case of a huge fire, of course it\u2019s going to be overwhelmed,\u201d she told Fox News Digital in January. \u201cYou should know that and have been prepared for that. So, I think there\u2019s a lot of money spent in LA, and we can\u2019t figure out where it\u2019s going.\u201d<\/p>\n

Heaton insisted California residents \u201ccan\u2019t just rely on the government to take care of things.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s people coming together in your community and insisting on getting stuff done. And, sadly, this is a very, very, very harsh lesson,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

Comedian and actor John O\u2019Hurley\u00a0said during a November interview\u00a0on Fox News\u2019 \u201cThe Brian Kilmeade Show\u201d he\u2019s \u201creluctantly\u201d still living in LA but likely not for much longer.<\/p>\n
\u201cA lot of the work that I do is voice work. A lot of it I can fly in for. I did five movies this year. I didn\u2019t do a single one of them in Los Angeles,\u201d he said.\u00a0<\/p>\n
O\u2019Hurley added that California\u2019s shrinking film industry is part of what\u2019s driving people away, noting that most of his recent projects have been filmed in other locations like Georgia, Tennessee and New York.<\/p>\n
