Arkansas Lane.

A grand opening event Wednesday highlighted the store’s enhanced decor and layout along with expanded selections in bakery, deli, produce, floral, and the meat and seafood department, the company’s press statement said. The first 200 shoppers received a free breakfast bundle to start their day.

The Arkansas Lane store is one of nine Kroger stores in Arlington.

The reopening is part of a larger plan by Kroger announced earlier this month to open two new Kroger Marketplace format stores in the cities of Fate and McKinney, with a third North Texas location to be announced at a later date.

All three of those projects are expected to break ground in 2026.

“Kroger is working hard to keep pace with North Texas’ explosive population growth, ensuring communities have access to fresh, affordable groceries and essential items,” said Rudy DiPietro, president of Kroger’s Texas division. “As new communities continue to emerge, these new stores will provide what the community has come to expect from Kroger — full shelves, where everything is fresh and our people are friendly.”

DiPietro was named in July as president of Kroger’s newly formed Texas division.

The Cincinnati, Ohio-based grocery giant said the Arlington store’s remodeling took months to complete and that the store will offer a wider array of new local, natural and healthy grocery options in the store.

Kroger currently operates more than 100 stores in North Texas and East Texas and more than 210 stores throughout the state. It employs roughly 26,000 associates in Texas, the company said.

The company also said that in honor of its Zero Hunger | Zero Waste social and environmental impact plan, it would make a donation of $10,000 to the University of Texas at Arlington Food Pantry as part of its Return to School campaign, reinforcing Kroger’s commitment to ending food insecurity.

Lance Murray is a freelance contributor covering business for the Arlington Report.

At the Arlington Report, news decisions are made independently of our board members and financial supporters.
