\n\tTracy Morgan<\/a>\u2019s new series The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins<\/a> has more than a few things in common with 30 Rock<\/a>: 1) It\u2019s a sitcom, 2) created by Robert Carlock, the 30 Rock showrunner (and Sam Means, with 30 Rock creator Tina Fey<\/a> executive producing) 3) on NBC, and 4) exists in the same universe as Jack Donaghy, Alec Baldwin\u2019s 30 Rock scene-owning NBC executive.<\/p>\n

\n\tCarlock told EW<\/a> that his new series, which follows the titular disgraced former New York Jets star (Morgan) trying to make amends after being banned for betting on his own games, has a whole bushel of nods to their classic one.<\/p>\n

\n\tLike, \u201dWe just had a scene where they were pouring Donaghy Estates champagne,\u201d Carlock said. \u201cWe asked our graphics and prop people to hunt that down, which they did immediately, so we had Donaghy in there.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tDonaghy Estates champagne was Jack\u2019s awful-tasting sparkling wine from the very first season of 30 Rock, now nearly 20 years ago. Either Donaghy Estates has (somehow) survived for two decades, or Dinkins put away a case or two for a special occasion. Neither option makes much sense.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cThere\u2019s a lot of rewards for paying attention,\u201d Fey said of the 30 Rock Easter eggs hidden in plain sight in Dinkins. \u201cThis is like the\u00a0Severance\u00a0of comedy.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI\u2019d like to live in a world where Kenneth Parcell [Jack McBrayer] is running NBC as well,\u201d Carlock said. \u201cBut that might not be for another couple hundred years in the\u00a030 Rock\u00a0timeline, right?\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tI mean, if Jack Donaghy could do it\u2026<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cWe are always trying to do those little things without breaking everything,\u201d Carlock continued. \u201cBut yeah, I\u2019d like to think that\u00a0The Girly Show\u00a0is still on, and it should be on their TV.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tIt was the time Carlock, Fey and Morgan spent doing 30 Rock that brought us The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins. Morgan yearned for more.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI didn\u2019t want\u00a030 Rock\u00a0to be over,\u201d Morgan said. <\/p>\n

\n\tSo in January 2024, Morgan sought to get the group back together \u2014 but not with a reboot or a continuation series, rather an entirely new premise. Dinkins\u2019 plan to get back in the good graces of fans \u2014 and to ultimately make the NFL Hall of Fame \u2014 is in the hands of documentarian Arthur Tobin (Daniel Radcliffe). Tobin has his work cut out for him.<\/p>\n
