Brooks, founder of the Scottsdale Society of Women Writers, has won the Arizona Authors Association Literary Contest Best of Category award for her non-fiction book \u201cWrite the Memoir You\u2019re Afraid to Write.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Brooks now plans a Zoom discussion about the art of writing memoirs.<\/p>\n<p>A publishing consultant who has written three memoirs and is a facilitator for the V. G. Piper Writing Center at Arizona State University, she will give her free lecture\u00a0 10 a.m.-noon Jan. 17.<\/p>\n<p>Interested people must RSVP by emailing <a href=\"https:\/\/www.scottsdale.org\/neighbors\/scottsdale-author-plans-memoir-writing-workshop\/mailto:patricia@plbrooks.com\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">patricia@plbrooks.com<\/a> or texting 480-250-5556.<\/p>\n<p>She said that \u201cin an encouraging and insightful presentation,\u201d she will help people \u201ccapture the essence of your untold story, share with you how to produce a memoir to your own satisfaction, face your fears, and conquer the story\u2019s emotional beats.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She\u2019ll also discuss techniques from writing her own memoirs, and those she has helped other writers \u201ctake the necessary steps to bring your work to fruition.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0The workshop also includes a question-and-answer session and an activity following her presentation.<\/p>\n<p>Her memoirs are available on <a href=\"http:\/\/amazon.com\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">amazon.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Brooks will also teach this workshop in an eight-week extended format for the Arizona State University Piper Writing Center starting starting Feb. 28 through three Saturday mornings in March, 10 a.m. to noon.
