The Catholic News Agency says that Pope Leo XIV has appointed the next archbishop of New York to succeed Cardinal Timothy Dolan.<\/p>\n
It says that Bishop Ronald Hicks, of the Diocese of Joliet in Illinois, was chosen for the position.<\/p>\n
The 58-year-old will succeed Dolan, who has led NY since 2009.<\/p>\n
Hicks has led the Diocese of Joliet since September 2020.<\/p>\n
