{"id":454496,"date":"2025-12-18T01:19:13","date_gmt":"2025-12-18T01:19:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/454496\/"},"modified":"2025-12-18T01:19:13","modified_gmt":"2025-12-18T01:19:13","slug":"san-antonio-man-who-pleaded-guilty-to-shooting-2-sapd-officers-sentenced-to-60-years-in-prison","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/454496\/","title":{"rendered":"San Antonio man who pleaded guilty to shooting 2 SAPD officers sentenced to 60 years in prison"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\"><strong>BEXAR COUNTY, Texas<\/strong> \u2013 A Bexar County jury decided how long a San Antonio man will be in prison <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ksat.com\/news\/local\/2023\/10\/20\/shooting-in-northeast-side-neighborhood-draws-heavy-police-response\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.ksat.com\/news\/local\/2023\/10\/20\/shooting-in-northeast-side-neighborhood-draws-heavy-police-response\/\">after he opened fire<\/a> on two police officers in 2023. <\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">Jesus Prado, 42, who <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ksat.com\/news\/local\/2025\/12\/10\/san-antonio-man-pleads-guilty-to-shooting-2-sapd-officers-as-trial-begins\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.ksat.com\/news\/local\/2025\/12\/10\/san-antonio-man-pleads-guilty-to-shooting-2-sapd-officers-as-trial-begins\/\">pleaded guilty to two aggravated assault of a public servant<\/a> charges on Dec. 10, was sentenced to 60 years in prison on Wednesday night. <\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">Prado, who does not face any fine, will get credit for any time served. <\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">After closing arguments concluded at approximately 5:10 p.m., Judge Stephanie Boyd read the prison sentences just after 7 p.m. <\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">Prado\u2019s charges carried a potential sentence between five and 99 years or life in prison. <\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">On Oct. 19, 2023, San Antonio police said Prado got into an argument with his wife, who wanted to file for divorce. <\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">Authorities said the argument spurred Prado to try to set the family\u2019s home on fire with his wife and children inside. <\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">When San Antonio Police Department officers Nicolas Augery and Santiago Vizcarra were dispatched on a family disturbance call, police said they smelled gasoline at the home in the 6200 block of Alta Puerta. <\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">Shortly after they arrived, authorities said Prado fired a weapon multiple times from the second floor of the home and wounded both officers.
