Inter Miami is nearing a deal to sign Canada international goalkeeper Dayne St. Clair, sources briefed on the deal tell The Athletic.<\/p>\n

St. Clair was named 2025 MLS Goalkeeper of the Year in November. It represents a significant signing in the goalkeeping position for Miami, who just won MLS Cup, with St. Clair one of the marquee free agents on the market<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The 28-year-old departs Minnesota United after his contract expired. The club had been in talks over a new deal but these failed to materialize so he reached free agency and Miami won the race to secure his signing.<\/p>\n

St. Clair was selected by Minnesota in the 2019 MLS SuperDraft and he made 159 appearances for the club. St. Clair has 18 caps for Canada and is in contention to be his country\u2019s starting goalkeeper at the 2026 World Cup.<\/p>\n

Miami goalkeeper Rocco Rios Novo won the team\u2019s starting role down the stretch and played a role in helping the club win MLS Cup, making key saves both in the Eastern Conference final and MLS Cup when both games were tight.<\/p>\n

Oscar Ustari had been the team\u2019s starting goalkeeper, but was benched for Rios Novo. Miami also traded away Drake Callender to Charlotte during the season.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Sean M.
