Philly theatergoers are in for a truly magical winter as Disney\u2019s Beauty and the Beast<\/strong> arrives at the historic Academy of Music<\/strong> for a limited two-week engagement, running February 11 through February 22, 2026<\/strong>. Presented by Disney Theatrical Group<\/strong>, Ensemble Arts Philly<\/strong>, and The Shubert Organization<\/strong>, this production marks the first North American touring production of the beloved musical in more than 25 years<\/strong>.<\/p>\n Based on the 1991 Academy Award\u00ae\u2013winning animated film<\/strong>, Beauty and the Beast made its Broadway debut in 1994 and went on to become one of the most celebrated musicals in theater history. The show remains the 10th longest-running Broadway production of all time<\/strong> and continues to captivate audiences across generations.<\/p>\n Nominated for nine Tony\u00ae Awards<\/strong>\u2014including a win for Best Costume Design<\/strong>\u2014Beauty and the Beast stands among the highest-grossing Broadway shows ever produced<\/strong>. Its legacy expanded worldwide through international stage productions and the 2017 live-action film adaptation<\/strong>, which grossed over $1 billion globally<\/strong>.<\/p>\n \u201cCritics have raved about the show throughout its history,\u201d said Frances Egler<\/strong>, Vice President of Theatrical Programming and Presentations. \u201cFrom its original Broadway run to recent smash productions in the U.K. and Australia, Beauty and the Beast remains as enchanting as ever. Ensemble Arts Philly is thrilled to welcome this iconic musical back to Philadelphia as part of our award-winning Broadway series.\u201d<\/p>\n Directed and choreographed by Matt West<\/strong>, this touring production features Alan Menken\u2019s Academy Award\u00ae\u2013winning score<\/strong>, with songs by Menken and the late Howard Ashman<\/strong>, including classics like \u201cBe Our Guest\u201d<\/strong> and the timeless title song \u201cBeauty and the Beast.\u201d<\/strong> Additional numbers written for the stage by Alan Menken and Tim Rice<\/strong>, such as \u201cIf I Can\u2019t Love Her\u201d<\/strong> and \u201cA Change in Me,\u201d<\/strong> further enrich the story.<\/p>\n The musical holds a special place in Disney history as only the second animated film adapted into a true book musical<\/strong>, where songs drive the plot and character development.
