\n\tRob Reiner<\/a> and Michele Reiner died on December 14<\/a> of \u201cmultiple sharp force injuries,\u201d according to the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe official report is consistent with information from the day of the couple\u2019s death and remarks from law enforcement and the L.A. County District Attorney\u2019s office. Citing no other causes of death for the 78-year-old filmmaker and his 68-year-old spouse, the Medical Examiner\u2019s official report comes on the same day that the Reiners\u2019 youngest son made his first court appearance<\/a> to face charges of two counts of first-degree murder<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\n\tNoting that the deeply wounded bodies of the A Few Good Men director and his photographer wife are \u201cready for release,\u201d the paperwork from investigator Jennifer Hertzog and two deputy medical examiners puts the manner of death as \u201chomicide.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\tEnding speculation of when the Reiners actually were killed over the weekend, the Medical Examiner\u2019s office have their death date as December 14, 2025. <\/p>\n

\n\tNick Reiner<\/a> is behind bars in downtown LA after being arrested and booked for murder by the LAPD. The capture of the younger Reiner occurred mere hours after his sister Romy discovered their parents\u2019 mutilated bodies in the master bedroom of their Brentwood home on the first night of Hanukkah. He faces life imprisonment without the possibility of parole or, due to \u201cspecial circumstances,\u201d even the death penalty<\/a> if found guilty.<\/p>\n

\n\tIn a short hearing earlier Wednesday and with his lawyer Alan Jackson by his side, the shackled 32-year-old Reiner did not enter a plea. The Being Charlie co-writer, who has long openly struggled with addiction issues, is expected back in court on January 6.<\/p>\n

\n\tAlso Wednesday, Romy Reiner and her and Nick\u2019s older brother Jake put out a statement mourning the \u201chorrific and devastating loss of our parents\u201d and how such a tragedy \u201cis something that no one should ever experience.\u201d To a Hollywood full of grief and outpourings of shock, he siblings added of Rob and Michele: \u201cThey weren\u2019t just our parents; they were our best friends.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe LAPD have said their investigation into the Reiners\u2019 deaths is still ongoing, even with Nick Reiner charged. Simultaneously the Medical Examiner calls the Reiner matter status still \u201copen,\u201d and will not have a final and more detailed report for at least 90 days. <\/p>\n
