Here\u2019s everything we know about the upcoming biopic <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rottentomatoes.com\/m\/michael\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Michael<\/a><\/strong>, which chronicles the life and legacy of the iconic pop star.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Who\u2019s Behind the Film?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"700\" height=\"380\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/EWKA_Michael4.jpg\" alt=\"Director Antoine Fuqua at the 2025 TCM Classic Film Festival\" class=\"wp-image-280038\"  \/>(Photo by Rodin Eckenroth\/Getty Images)<\/p>\n<p>Michael is directed by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rottentomatoes.com\/celebrity\/antoine_fuqua\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Antoine Fuqua<\/a> (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.rottentomatoes.com\/m\/training_day\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Training Day<\/a>), who has done (loosely) based-on-true-story films like <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rottentomatoes.com\/m\/1133964-king_arthur\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">King Arthur<\/a> (2004) and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rottentomatoes.com\/m\/emancipation_2022\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Emancipation<\/a> in the past, but who hasn\u2019t really dipped his toe into the biopic genre until now. The film was written by veteran screenwriter <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rottentomatoes.com\/celebrity\/john_logan\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">John Logan<\/a>, whose impressive credits include Ridley Scott\u2019s Gladiator, Martin Scorsese\u2019s The Aviator and Hugo, and the James Bond films Skyfall and Spectre, among others. While the teaser <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=JUpGzJLiQ-A\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">trailer<\/a> doesn\u2019t reveal an extensive amount about what we will see, it does show Michael in studio with the legendary Quincy Jones (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.rottentomatoes.com\/celebrity\/kendrick_sampson\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Kendrick Sampson<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rottentomatoes.com\/tv\/insecure\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Insecure<\/a>) recording what audiences can only assume is his biggest album, 1982\u2019s Thriller.\u00a0 With hits like \u201cThe Girl Is Mine,\u201d \u201cBillie Jean,\u201d \u201cBeat It,\u201d and of course \u201cThriller,\u201d fans can be sure to expect to sing along to some of the greatest music of our time.<\/p>\n<p>That said, the press release description of the film calls it a \u201criveting and honest portrayal of the brilliant yet complicated man\u201d that \u201cpresents his triumphs and tragedies on an epic, cinematic scale \u2014 from his human side and personal struggles to his undeniable creative genius.\u201d With that in mind, <a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/2024\/film\/news\/michael-jackson-biopic-sex-abuse-allegations-portrayal-1235940793\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">it has also been reported<\/a> that the film will address, in some fashion, the criminal allegations against Michael Jackson, though the response to that notion <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/music\/2025\/sep\/04\/michael-jackson-daughter-paris-criticises-sugar-coated-biopic-about-her-father\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">has been mixed<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>While audiences await a full trailer, we will just have to keep tabs on what we hope to see addressed in this new film, which hits theaters on April 24, 2026.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rottentomatoes.com\/m\/michael\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Michael<\/a> is scheduled to open in theaters on April 24, 2026.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/editorial.rottentomatoes.com\/article\/app\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Find Something Fresh!
