If you haven’t checked the latest from Exact Track 4D, now’s the time—Jacksonville and areas nearby are gearing up for a line of rain and thunderstorms later today.

This morning, fog isn’t much of an issue, though Orange Park and St. Augustine are seeing some slight drops in visibility. Elsewhere, including 501 Riverside, things look pretty clear.

Temperatures are sitting in the upper 50s to low 60s right now, and the humidity is up. You’ll want to keep an umbrella handy because the real rain is on the way. Here’s how it breaks down:

Early today: Spotty rain possible coming in from the Atlantic.

1 p.m. to 1 a.m.: The main line of storms passes through the area. Expect that line to build up between 3 and 5 p.m. over Georgia, hitting Macclenny and Lake City by 5 to 7 p.m., and reaching Jacksonville proper between 7 and 9 p.m.

9 to 11 p.m.: Storms move offshore. Showers could hang around overnight into early Friday morning, so keep an eye out as you step outside.

Conditions this evening may change quickly, especially in areas right along the main line of storms. I’ll be tracking it closely on Exact Track 4D and have updates as new radar data comes in.

Dry, mild weekend ahead

Looking for relief from the rain? Good news: a calm, sunny weekend is forecast, with only isolated showers hanging on into Friday morning. After that, rain chances drop off sharply. In fact, we’re looking at less than a 10 percent chance of rain for several days in a row.

Temperatures are expected to stay above average all the way through Christmas week. Low temperatures will be mild, and daytime highs will run warmer than normal for this time of year—most of us will notice it feels more spring than winter. Despite today’s showers, we’re not likely to see any major shift in drought conditions, since the upcoming week looks very dry.

Sun for Saturday’s parade

If you’re heading out to the championship celebration parade Saturday at Lonnie C. Miller Park, you’re in luck. The morning will start off clear and cool—around 47 degrees at 8 a.m.—with bright sunshine by 10 a.m. and warming up to about 64 degrees at noon. Winds are expected out of the northeast, 5 to 10 mph. It’s shaping up to be a perfect day to celebrate and take in the parade.

It’s also a great weekend for those holiday errands or finishing your Christmas shopping outside. If you’d rather shop today while it’s wet, online might be the move!

Want to show us how the weather’s looking at your house or at the parade?
