{"id":456434,"date":"2025-12-18T22:19:11","date_gmt":"2025-12-18T22:19:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/456434\/"},"modified":"2025-12-18T22:19:11","modified_gmt":"2025-12-18T22:19:11","slug":"rams-puka-nacua-apologizes-for-offensive-gesture-on-livestream","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/456434\/","title":{"rendered":"Rams&#8217; Puka Nacua apologizes for offensive gesture on livestream"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>As the <a class=\"link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.latimes.com\/sports\/rams\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Rams<\/a> prepared for their game on <a class=\"link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.latimes.com\/sports\/rams\/story\/2025-12-17\/davante-adams-doubtful-rams-face-toughest-challenge-seattle-seahawks\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Thursday night against the Seattle Seahawks<\/a>, <a class=\"link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.latimes.com\/sports\/rams\/story\/2025-10-01\/rams-puka-nacua-historic-start-season\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">star receiver Puka Nacua<\/a>, the Rams and the NFL issued statements related to Nacua\u2019s performing a gesture \u201cantisemitic in nature\u201d during a livestream.<\/p>\n<p>In a post on Instagram, Nacua apologized for the gesture he made while appearing on a <a class=\"link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.latimes.com\/sports\/story\/2025-12-17\/rams-puka-nacua-criticizes-nfl-referees-livestream\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">livestream with Adin Ross and N3on<\/a>. The livestreamers, with Nacua out of earshot, discussed whether Nacua would get in trouble if he performed a move that references an offensive stereotype about Jewish people. Ross is Jewish, but he often performs the move and teaches others how to do it in his livestreams.<\/p>\n<p>They suggested Nacua perform the gesture the next time he celebrated after scoring a touchdown.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAt the time, I had no idea this act was antisemetic in nature and perpetuated hateful stereotypes against Jewish people,\u201d Nacua wrote in his post. \u201cI deeply apologize to anyone who was offended by my actions as I do not stand for any form of racism, bigotry or hate of another group of people.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Rams denounced the gesture.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere is no place in this world for Antisemitism as well as other forms of prejudice or hostility towards the Jewish people and people of any religion, ethnicity, or race,\u201d the team said.<\/p>\n<p>The NFL said it \u201cstrongly condemns all forms of discrimination and derogatory behavior directed towards any group or individual.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe continuing rise of antisemitism must be addressed across the world,\u201d the league said, \u201cand the NFL will continue to stand with our partners in this fight. Hatred has no place in our sport or society.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>California congressman Eric Swalwell was among those who criticized Nacua, saying it was especially insensitive in light of the attack in Sydney, Australia, that killed 15 people at a Hanukkah celebration.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Los Angeles Jewish community is on edge after the Bondi Beach massacre,\u201d Swalwell <a class=\"link\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/RepSwalwell\/status\/2001547025998115134\" target=\"_blank\">wrote on X<\/a>. \u201cHe promises an antisemitic touchdown dance for his Thursday night game.
