{"id":456484,"date":"2025-12-18T22:50:14","date_gmt":"2025-12-18T22:50:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/456484\/"},"modified":"2025-12-18T22:50:14","modified_gmt":"2025-12-18T22:50:14","slug":"longtime-zaslav-aide-david-leavy-exits-warner-bros-discovery","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/456484\/","title":{"rendered":"Longtime Zaslav Aide David Leavy Exits Warner Bros Discovery"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tChange is afoot at Warner Bros Discovery, on many levels.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tAs the <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/david-zaslav\/\" id=\"auto-tag_david-zaslav\" data-tag=\"david-zaslav\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">David Zaslav<\/a>-led conglomerate aims to sell off studio and streaming assets to <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/netflix\/\" id=\"auto-tag_netflix\" data-tag=\"netflix\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Netflix<\/a> (unless David Ellison and Larry Ellison have something to say and bid about it), one of the CEO\u2019s longest serving and closest aides is exiting. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tFormer <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/cnn\/\" id=\"auto-tag_cnn\" data-tag=\"cnn\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CNN<\/a> COO <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/david-leavy\/\" id=\"auto-tag_david-leavy\" data-tag=\"david-leavy\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">David Leavy<\/a> will be leaving <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/wbd\/\" id=\"auto-tag_wbd\" data-tag=\"wbd\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">WBD<\/a> at the end of the year. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tHaving held a corporate non-operating role the past several months since shifting from<a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/2023\/06\/david-leavy-cnn-worldwide-coo-1235398003\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> his 2023 unveiled cable news gig<\/a>, Leavy made his not entirely unexpected announcement Thursday in an email to colleagues. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\t\u201cWhen I first joined in 2000, Discovery was based in Bethesda, MD, as a small privately held cable company with a few networks and websites\u2026but it did have really smart and dedicated people with very grand ambitions\u2026and to witness the company\u2019s extraordinary evolution and global growth over the past 25 years has been incredible,\u201d Leavy wrote with a specific and \u201cspecial call-out\u201d to Zas. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\t\u201cThat story continues to be written in real time with the next great chapter in \u201926 and beyond,\u201d the exec added. \u201cI will be cheering loudly for the best outcomes for WBD with all the amazing stories it tells every day, and all the world-class people that work here.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\t<strong>READ DAVID LEAVY\u2019S FULL NOTE TO WBD STAFF BELOW<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tLeavy has no immediate next act in mind. Though with his political background and corporate stints a think tank or non-profit could be in the mix, I hear. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tHaving said, the next few weeks will see Leavy, who served as chief spokesman and senior director of public affairs for the National Security Council and as deputy press secretary for foreign affairs in the Clinton White House, take some family time over the holidays and beyond, sources say. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tSpeaking of saying \u2014 off a busy week of rejecting the Ellisons and <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/paramount\/\" id=\"auto-tag_paramount\" data-tag=\"paramount\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Paramount<\/a>\u2018s $108 billion hostile takeover bid for all of WBD and showing Netflix CEOs Ted Sarandos and Greg Peters around the lot that may soon(ish) become their home away from home, David Zaslav had some nice words today for his soon-to-be former right hand man and prot\u00e9g\u00e9. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\t\u201cDavid had a terrific 25 year run at Discovery and WBD,\u201d the senior David said of the David who was Discovery\u2019s \u00a0chief corporate affairs officer and came over to the new WBD with his boss with the 2022 merger.\u00a0\u201cDavid\u00a0is both a great person and an outstanding executive, and I\u2019m confident this is the right moment for him to take the next step in his career and life.
