KERR COUNTY, Texas<\/strong> \u2013 Kerr County officials said many local and state agencies are \u201cworking around the clock\u201d to rescue survivors and reunite families after severe flooding in the Hill Country.<\/p>\n

Hundreds of people were rescued and dozens of people were killed after a storm unleashed nearly a foot of rain before dawn on Friday on Highway 39 along the Guadalupe River west of Kerrville.<\/p>\n

That amount of rain in a short period of time sent floodwaters gushing through Kerr and Kendall Counties.<\/p>\n

While the Canyon Lake dam kept that water from continuing downstream to New Braunfels and Seguin, a slow-moving storm brought more rain to Comal, Guadalupe and northern Bexar counties on Saturday, causing flooding along the Guadalupe River south of Canyon Lake.<\/p>\n

As rescue operations continue in Kerrville, people are asking how to support those impacted by the flood. Here are some ways to help:<\/p>\n

Where to donate money<\/p>\n

Those looking to help financially may do so through a number of nonprofits supporting the recovery effort. Beware of unverified donation sites.<\/p>\n

Cross Kingdom Church<\/b><\/p>\n

During a Friday afternoon press conference, Kerr County City Manager Dalton Rice said Cross Kingdom Church, located at 3044 Junction Highway in Kerrville, is taking donations.<\/p>\n

While the church is no longer taking physical donations, it has started a monetary relief fund.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are here\u2014boots on the ground, and ready to support the families affected in the days to come. Your designated donation will go DIRECTLY to the families affected,” the church said in a Facebook post.<\/p>\n

Kerr County Flood Relief Fund<\/b><\/p>\n

The Community Foundation of the Texas Hill Country, a registered 501(c)(3) charity, has established the Kerr County Flood Relief Fund<\/a>. <\/p>\n

This fund will allocate donations to verified organizations involved in rescue, relief, recovery efforts, and flood assistance, according to its website<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Kerrville Chamber of Commerce<\/b><\/p>\n

The Kerrville Area Chamber of Commerce launched the Kerrville Area Rebuilding and Recovery Fund<\/a> to \u201csupport critical rebuilding efforts\u201d for businesses affected, according to a news release.<\/p>\n

Texas Search and Rescue<\/b><\/p>\n

Monetary donations can be made to Texas Search and Rescue<\/a>, which has deployed assets to Kerr County.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhether searching for someone who is lost, rescuing someone from rising waters, saving someone from drowning, recovering someone\u2026or more, there is never a charge to the requesting agency or family because of donations like yours,” its website states.<\/p>\n

Where to donate food, clothes and supplies<\/p>\n

Bexar Democrats, in partnership with the San Antonio Professional Firefighters Association (SAPFFA) – IAFF 624, will host a donation drive from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday, July 6. <\/p>\n

Clean clothes, hygiene products, food and water, baby essentials and comfort items are among donations that will be accepted, the organization said in an Instagram post.<\/p>\n
