He has undergone several surgeries to treat gunshot wounds suffered in the terror attack, and he faces a long road to recovery.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Flowers and tributes have been left outside Ahmed al Ahmed\u2019s Sutherland Shire business.\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/d418bcf6f0cc68942cbf180c5e48c4aca88e0c1da2c2e76eff76fa2bc5780ce6.jpeg\" height=\"425\" width=\"283\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Flowers and tributes have been left outside Ahmed al Ahmed\u2019s Sutherland Shire business.<\/p>\n<p>More than a dozen flower bouquets have been left outside Ahmed\u2019s shop, which has been closed throughout the week.<\/p>\n<p>A message addressed on behalf of Sutherland residents and stuck to the roller shutters reads: \u201cThank you Mr Ahmed. We are so very proud of you.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Another message scrawled in pink crayon on the nearby footpath read: \u201cThank you. We all [love] you xxx.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A collection of colourful drawings include a golden outline of a trophy, labelling Ahmed the \u201cworld\u2019s best hero\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Included on the piece of paper was \u201cno more guns for everyone\u201d, and \u201cthank you for being our hero. We are proud of you\u201d.<strong\/><\/p>\n<p>Hero who accompanied Ahmed against gunmen identified<\/p>\n<p>The person who ran alongside Ahmed as he confronted Akram has been identified as Gefen Bitton, an Israeli citizen who had run towards the line of fire after initially fleeing to a safe area.<\/p>\n<p>Bitton, 30, spent most of Sunday hiking in the Blue Mountains, but returned to Bondi in the evening to attend the Hanukkah event. He followed Ahmed as he ambushed and wrestled a long-arm rifle off Akram, where he was shot twice.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGefen has escaped, he was safe, but when he saw the terrorist, he ran into the line of fire to help,\u201d a statement from Bitton\u2019s family and a friend read.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Gefen Bitton accompanied Ahmed al Ahmed as he wrestled a rife off Sajid Akram.\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/a6455ce7308cb9ee3a7c1cd231a71010e656be3935b6d39ee121b824976a9e9b.jpeg\" height=\"390\" width=\"584\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Gefen Bitton accompanied Ahmed al Ahmed as he wrestled a rife off Sajid Akram.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe ran into the face of danger like only a hero does, guided by the values on which he was educated and raised. A true hero that deserves recognition.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Bitton\u2019s father has travelled to Sydney from Israel to support his son.
