WESTLAND, Mich.<\/strong> \u2013 Police are searching for the suspect who shot a victim outside a Kroger in Westland.<\/p>\n

The shooting occurred on Thursday, Dec. 18, around 7:30 p.m. at 36430 Ford Road.<\/p>\n

Authorities say one person was shot, though the victim\u2019s condition has not been confirmed. <\/p>\n

A Local 4 News photojournalist at the scene saw a body being removed.<\/p>\n

It remains unclear what led to the shooting or the exact location where it happened. <\/p>\n

Kroger said the incident occurred in the parking lot, but police have not confirmed that detail.<\/p>\n

After speaking with the police and Kroger, it was confirmed that the Salvation Army had a bell ringer volunteering at the store during the shooting.<\/p>\n

The Salvation Army released this statement regarding the volunteer\u2019s involvement:<\/p>\n

\u201cWe lift up in prayer all who are affected, especially the individual involved, their loved ones, and the Westland community. We are working closely with the Westland Police Department as they investigate the situation.\u201d<\/p>\n

Updates will be provided as more information becomes available.<\/p>\n

We are cooperating with local law enforcement, and will continue to follow their guidance while the police investigation continues.
