The weekend before Christmas will naturally bring a few more festive events, but there are almost as many events on our list that are not holiday-related. Choices include three Christmas concerts<\/a>, three country concerts, screenings of a new film, another Nutcracker, a well-known comedian, a special ice skating show, and a holiday celebration with a local theater.<\/p>\n

Thursday, December 18<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Vocal Majority Christmas Spectacular<\/a><\/strong>
The Vocal Majority Christmas Spectacular is packed with holiday cheer, heartwarming sacred music, and the signature Vocal Majority sound. Visitors can expect a joyful mix of fun and reverence across both acts, delivering the kind of festive, feel-good performance that has become a holiday tradition. The concert takes place at White’s Chapel Methodist Church in Southlake.<\/p>\n

Don Louis in concert<\/a><\/strong>
Don Louis is a rising star in the country music scene who plays a mix of country, rock, hip-hop, and R&B, with influences ranging from George Strait and Toby Keith to The Weeknd and J Cole. He released his debut album, Liquor Talkin’ in 2024. He’ll make his debut at Billy Bob’s Texas.<\/p>\n

Friday, December 19<\/strong><\/p>\n

Magnolia at the Modern: Eternity<\/a><\/strong>
In an afterlife where souls have one week to decide where to spend eternity, Joan (Elizabeth Olsen) is faced with the impossible choice between the man she spent her life with (Miles Teller) and her first love (Callum Turner), who died young and has waited decades for her to arrive. The film will screen seven times through Sunday at the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth.<\/p>\n

North Central Ballet presents The Nutcracker<\/a><\/strong>
North Central Ballet will celebrate the magic of the holiday season with their 31st annual production of The Nutcracker. Featuring professional guest artists alongside North Central Ballet\u2019s pre-professional company and children\u2019s casts, the performance captures the artistry, discipline, and community spirit that set North Central Ballet apart. From the twinkling Party Scene to the Land of Sweets, audiences of all ages will be transported by Tchaikovsky\u2019s timeless score and breathtaking choreography. There will be three performances through Sunday at I.M. Terrell Academy.<\/p>\n

Orpheus Chamber Singers presents Christmas with Orpheus<\/a><\/strong>
Orpheus Chamber Singers’ Christmas with Orpheus includes favorites like Trond Kverno’s “Ave Maris Stella” and Eric Whitacre’s “Stopping By Woods on a Snowy Evening,\u201d as well as selections from Benjamin Britten\u2019s \u201cCeremony of Carols.\u201d The one-night-only performance takes place at Broadway Baptist Church.<\/p>\n

Improv Arlington presents Lavell Crawford<\/a><\/strong>
Comedian Lavell Crawford’s giant-sized talent has gotten showcased in his numerous television appearances. He gained national exposure on NBC\u2019s Last Comic Standing, leading to his own half-hour standup special on Comedy Central. But Crawford is perhaps best known for his recurring role on AMC\u2019s Emmy Award-winning Breaking Bad, which he reprised on several occasions in the prequel series, Better Call Saul. He’ll perform seven times through Sunday at Improv Arlington.<\/p>\n

Midland in concert<\/a><\/strong>
The country band Midland surprisingly didn’t come out of the same-named city, but rather Dripping Springs, just outside of Austin. Named instead after the Dwight Yoakam song “Fair to Midland,” the group has made a big mark on country music, hitting No. 2 with its debut album, On the Rocks, and No. 1 with their 2019 album, Let It Roll. They also love playing multiple nights at Billy Bob’s Texas, doing that trick multiple times in recent years, and they’ll do so again, playing there on Friday and Saturday.<\/p>\n

Saturday, December 20<\/strong><\/p>\n

Sk8 to Elimin8 Cancer Holiday Ice Show<\/a><\/strong>
The Sk8 to Elimin8 Cancer Holiday Ice Show, emceed by Olympic Champion Scott Hamilton<\/a>, will feature Olympians Mariah Bell, Ashley Cain, and Polina Edmunds as special guests. Proceeds will benefit the Scott Hamilton CARES Foundation’s innovative cancer research. The event takes place at NYTEX Sports Centre in North Richland Hills.<\/p>\n

Treaty Oak Revival in concert<\/a><\/strong>
Just two years ago, Treaty Oak Revival was considered an up-and-coming country band, coming out of West Texas after forming in Midland in 2019. While their first two albums did okay, they’ve really broken out with their new album, West Texas Degenerate, which has yielded two hit songs so far, including their latest, “Bad State of Mind.” That change in popularity also brings with it a new, larger venue, as they’ll move from playing at Billy Bob’s Texas to this concert at Dickies Arena.<\/p>\n

Sunday, December 21<\/strong><\/p>\n

<\/strong>Home for the Holidays with Jubilee Theatre<\/a><\/strong>
At Home for the Holidays, guests can enjoy a heartwarming celebration filled with music, memories, and community spirit. They’ll have a chance to meet Auntee from Auntee Explains Xmas and sing along with beloved Jubilee favorites Joe Rogers, May Allen, Robert Rouse, and more. The event will take place in the Ann Waggoner Theater inside Nicholas Martin Hall on the Texas Wesleyan University campus.<\/p>\n

Pentatonix in concert<\/a><\/strong>
A cappella group Pentatonix comes to Fort Worth for two hometown shows<\/a> to close out their Christmas in the City tour. They’ll perform favorite songs from their seven holiday-themed albums, including the new Christmas in the City.
