The convenience and relative affordability of road travel continue to make it the most popular choice for the holidays. <\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">For the first time, more than 8 million domestic flyers are expected during this year\u2019s holiday period, with AAA forecasting about 8.03 million air travelers, a rise of 2.3 % compared to last year. <\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">AAA\u2019s travel projections come as gas prices remain lower than they were at the end of last holiday season, when the national average hovered around $3.04 per gallon.
