The woman who was caught canoodling with her boss<\/a> on the \u201ckiss cam\u201d at a Coldplay concert in July is speaking out for the first time since the viral incident.<\/p>\n

In interviews with the New York Times<\/a> and the Times of London<\/a> published on Thursday, Kristin Cabot, former head of human resources at tech startup Astronomer, said she was harassed for weeks after she was seen on the jumbotron with Andy Byron, the company\u2019s chief executive at the time, during the July 16 show at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Mass., outside of Boston.<\/p>\n

Coldplay\u2019s Chris Martin called out the pair as they tried to hide themselves when they realized they were being broadcast on the big screen.<\/p>\n

\u201cOh, look at these two,\u201d Martin said. \u201cEither they\u2019re having an affair or they\u2019re just very shy.\u201d<\/p>\n

A 16-second fan-shot video of the intimate moment exploded on TikTok, quickly racking up more than 100 million views. Within days, Astronomer\u2019s board of directors launched a formal investigation and enlisted a marketing company (and Gwyneth Paltrow<\/a>) for damage control, and Cabot and Byron resigned.<\/p>\n

\u201cI made a bad decision and had a couple of High Noons and danced and acted inappropriately with my boss. And it\u2019s not nothing,\u201d Cabot told the New York Times at her home in New Hampshire. \u201cI took accountability and I gave up my career for that. That\u2019s the price I chose to pay.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u2018A big happy crush\u2019<\/p>\n

Cabot, who was separated from her husband at the time, said Byron had told her that he was also going through a separation. Byron has not spoken publicly about the encounter.<\/p>\n

Cabot told the Times of London that she had a \u201cbig happy crush\u201d on her boss. But she was not in a sexual relationship with him at the time of the Coldplay concert, she told the New York Times, and before that night, they had never even kissed.<\/p>\n

She said she was given VIP tickets to the concert and invited Byron to join her. On the way to the show, Cabot said she received a text informing her that her soon-to-be ex-husband, Andrew, was attending the concert too.<\/p>\n

Cabot said she and Byron were enjoying themselves in a VIP area at Gillette.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe were sitting in the back of the stadium at the opposite end from the stage in the pitch black just feeling totally anonymous,\u201d she told the Times of London. \u201cWe were just dancing, I\u2019d had a few High Noons. Andy was standing behind me and we were dancing and I grabbed him.\u201d<\/p>\n

Then came the \u201ckiss cam\u201d seen around the world.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was so embarrassed and so horrified,\u201d Cabot told the New York Times. \u201cI\u2019m the head of HR and he\u2019s the CEO. It\u2019s, like, so clich\u00e9 and so bad.\u201d<\/p>\n

They retreated to the bar.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe both just sat there with our heads in our hands, like, \u2018What just happened?\u2019\u201d she said. They quickly realized they had to tell the company\u2019s board of directors, and spent the rest of that night strategizing what to say.<\/p>\n

By the time they sent their joint email the next morning, the TikTok video was seemingly everywhere.<\/p>\n

The fallout<\/p>\n

In the weeks that followed, Cabot said, she was doxxed and started receiving 500 or 600 calls a day. She told the New York Times she was labeled a \u201cslut,” a \u201chomewrecker\u201d and a \u201cgold digger.\u201d<\/p>\n

She found she could ignore most of the messages. But those that indicated a familiarity with her daily habits terrified her: \u201cI know you shop at Market Basket and I\u2019m coming for you.\u201d At one point, she played one of these for her mother over speakerphone, unaware that her children were listening through the bedroom door. \u201cThey were already in really bad shape, and that\u2019s when the wheels fell off the cart,\u201d she said. \u201cBecause my kids were afraid that I was going to die and they were going to die.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

\u201cI want my kids to know that you can make mistakes, and you can really screw up,\u201d Cabot said. \u201cBut you don\u2019t have to be threatened to be killed for them.\u201d<\/p>\n

In August, she filed for divorce from Andrew Cabot, who released a statement<\/a> that said the couple was \u201camicably separated several weeks before the Coldplay concert,\u201d and asked for privacy.<\/p>\n
