No,&#8221; Nasa <a href=\"https:\/\/apod.nasa.gov\/apod\/ap250629.html\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"said (opens in a new tab)\" rel=\"nofollow noreferrer noopener\">said<\/a>, as it re-shared the image first snapped in 2008. <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Groups of dark brown streaks have been photographed by the\u00a0Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter\u00a0on melting pinkish sand dunes covered with light frost.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter, which had been in space just two years before taking the shot, was able to capture dark sand\u00a0on the interior of Martian sand\u00a0dunes\u00a0&#8211; giving the illusion of trees. <\/p>\n<p>These tree-like dark streaks of sand are located near Mars&#8217; North Pole &#8211; which are usually covered in a layer of carbon dioxide ice in the winter. <\/p>\n<p>The dark sand had become more visible during the Martian spring, when the Sun melted the lighter\u00a0carbon dioxide ice on the surface of the sand. <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;When occurring near the top of a dune,\u00a0dark sand may cascade\u00a0down the dune leaving\u00a0dark surface streaks &#8211; streaks that might appear at first to be\u00a0trees standing in front of the lighter regions but cast no shadows,&#8221; explained Nasa.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Objects about 25cm across are resolved on\u00a0this image\u00a0spanning about one kilometer. <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Close ups of some parts of this image show\u00a0billowing plumes indicating that the\u00a0sand slides\u00a0were occurring even while the image was being taken.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>But they&#8217;re not the only bizarre-looking specimens located in Mars&#8217; faraway sands. <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"#\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"a large rock in the middle of a desert\" height=\"718\" width=\"960\" data-credit=\"NASA\" data-img=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/40fdb596-efa4-405c-8aab-4a1e8c5a7264_fd8468.jpg\" data-caption=\"Can you spot the face?\"   loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/40fdb596-efa4-405c-8aab-4a1e8c5a7264_fd8468.jpg\" role=\"img\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>6<\/p>\n<p>Can you spot the face?Credit: NASAA b<strong>uried face<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>What looks like a grisly, <a aria-label=\"sun-scorched human face (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.the-sun.com\/tech\/12717225\/mars-human-face-nasa-perseverance-rover-mysterious-rock\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">sun-scorched human face<\/a> has also been discovered half-buried on Mars by Nasa&#8217;s Perseverance rover.<\/p>\n<p>The image, taken by the\u00a0rover\u00a0in September, appears to show a sandy face with a large brow bone, nostrils and a sloping mouth on the left side.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"#\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Satellite image of Martian south pole pillars.\" height=\"426\" width=\"960\" data-credit=\"ESA\/DLR\/FU Berlin\" data-img=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/festive-silhouettes-near-mars-south-pole-pillars.jpg\" data-caption=\"Which do you see first - the angel or the heart?\"   loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/festive-silhouettes-near-mars-south-pole-pillars.jpg\" role=\"img\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>6<\/p>\n<p>Which do you see first &#8211; the angel or the heart?Credit: ESA\/DLR\/FU BerlinSouth Pole &#8216;angel&#8217; <\/p>\n<p>On the opposite side of the planet to Mars&#8217; mysterious &#8216;trees&#8217;, lies an &#8216;angel&#8217; in the Martian regolith.<a aria-label=\"an &#039;angel&#039; in the regolith.  (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.the-sun.com\/lifestyle\/tech-old\/1992227\/angel-on-mars-esa\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> <\/a><\/p>\n<p>Snapped by the European Space Agency&#8217;s (ESA) Mars Express, this image of the Red Planet&#8217;s South Pole seems to show an angel and a heart together.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>ESA <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnet.com\/news\/mars-spacecraft-spots-angelic-figure-near-red-planets-south-pole\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">described<\/a> it as an\u00a0&#8220;angelic figure&#8221;
