ANYONE can be a doctor. On second thought, anyone can be a doctor if he or she doesn\u2019t need to be responsible for the health of their patient.<\/p>\n

This statement is best illustrated by an influencer who recently became infamous for selling a \u201ccure\u201d for diabetes and also to lower cholesterol level.<\/p>\n

And that cure comes in the form of a dubious medicinal drink which he claims contains garlic and apple cider vinegar.<\/p>\n

According to netizen @scososco <\/strong>who observed the video, this was no different than in 2000 where people would sell quark medication along the road. \u201cNow they are selling it on the social media platform,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Then there was @NizamSbr<\/strong> pointing out that such products were popular since many people wanted a short cut to good health instead of the rigorous regiment required to maintain it. The critics continue to pour into the comment section.<\/p>\n

\u201cA load to the government hospital,\u201d said @kaijuday<\/strong> while @KhunChai05\u00a0 <\/strong>hoped the Ministry Of Health will take action against him. To make matters worse, the influencer even said that his miracle drink can cure kidney stones.<\/p>\n

So how true are his claims about garlic and apple cider vinegar?<\/p>\n

\u201cDespite decades of conflicting studies about the pungent herb\u2019s ability to improve heart health, the researchers say their study provides the most rigorous evidence to date that consuming garlic on a daily basis \u2013 in the form of either raw garlic or two of the most popular garlic supplements \u2013 does not lower LDL cholesterol levels among adults with moderately high cholesterol levels,\u201d said Stanford Medicine on its website.<\/p>\n

While several studies have looked at the link between apple cider vinegar and blood sugar management, they\u2019re usually small, with varying results, said the website Healthline.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Dr Maria Pena, an endocrinologist in New York writes that there have been several small studies evaluating the effects of apple cider vinegar, and the results are mixed.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe take-home message is that until a large randomised control trial is done, it is difficult to ascertain the true benefits of taking apple cider vinegar,\u201d she said. \u2014Dec 19, 2025<\/p>\n
