{"id":45896,"date":"2025-07-07T11:54:08","date_gmt":"2025-07-07T11:54:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/45896\/"},"modified":"2025-07-07T11:54:08","modified_gmt":"2025-07-07T11:54:08","slug":"express-family-clinic-serves-patients-without-appointments-insurance-in-porter","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/45896\/","title":{"rendered":"Express Family Clinic serves patients without appointments, insurance in Porter"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\t\t\t\t<a href=\"http:\/\/www.expressfamilyclinic.com\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Express Family Clinic<\/a> in Porter requires no appointments and charges a flat rate for visits\u2014a business model designed to help patients with and without insurance alike, owner and Family Nurse Practitioner Melissa Herpel said.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The need<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Herpel opened Express Family Clinic\u2014which offers primary care and diagnostic services for children and adults\u2014after discovering gaps in local health care for patients without insurance.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere just wasn&#8217;t a great way for those patients to get the same kind of health care as those with commercial insurance and be able to afford it,\u201d Herpel said.<\/p>\n<p>A nurse practitioner since 2007, Herpel said many patients without insurance would go to the emergency room for minor illnesses or for medication refills because they couldn\u2019t afford the visit charges at primary care clinics.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat&#8217;s just not a good way for health care to work, and it certainly isn&#8217;t sustainable,\u201d Herpel said.<\/p>\n<p>Express Family Clinic also welcomes patients with insurance, but does not bill insurance companies, Herpel said. However, patients can seek reimbursement from their insurer.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The action taken<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>From 2011-18, Herpel opened three Express Family Clinic locations\u2014in Spring, Conroe and Porter.
