Norwich Meadows Farm<\/a>, an organic farm based in Norwich, New York, reported on Instagram<\/a> that a major fire destroyed its main barn and packing shed overnight on Thursday, December 11, wiping out its packhouse, refrigeration, machinery, scales, and other essential equipment. No one was hurt. For now, the priority is restoring power to protect winter storage crops; the team says it\u2019s not yet clear what the next few days or weeks will look like for markets and orders. The restaurant industry, including Jean-Georges Vongerichten and chef Victoria Blamey have weighed in with sympathy in the comments of the post.<\/p>\n

A friend of Norwich Meadows Farm, Johanna Kolodny, started a GoFundMe campaign<\/a> with the approval of Norwich co-owners Zaid, Haifa, and Abdul Kurdieh to help the farm financially in the meantime while the team rebuilds, seeking $200,000.<\/p>\n

The market is still selling produce and goods at its New York-area farmers markets, including the Union Square Greenmarket on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays.<\/p>\n

Longstanding Brooklyn music venue will close next year<\/p>\n

Nearly-20-year-old Brooklyn venue Music Hall of Williamsburg<\/a> on North Sixth Street will be closing at the end of 2026, as reported by Variety<\/a>. Per an internal memo from the concert production company overseeing Music Hall, Jim Glancy and John Moore\u2019s Bowery Presents, the landlord decided not renew the venue\u2019s lease.<\/p>\n

The concert space opened in 2007, taking over what was previously the dingy Northsix venue, and since then, has hosted concerts big and small, including Harry Styles, Robyn, Kendrick Lamar, Phoebe Bridgers, Geese, and many, many others.<\/p>\n
