House"},"content":{"rendered":"<p data-uri=\"www.audacy.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cmjdbn0xo000e01u96kntl6yo@published\" data-editable=\"text\" class=\"paragraph paragraph--station\">PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) \u2014 The Pennsylvania House passed a bill this week aimed at raising awareness about human trafficking among employees and workers at places where it\u2019s most prevalent.<\/p>\n<p data-uri=\"www.audacy.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cmjddtt5v001y357vp13yb6hp@published\" data-editable=\"text\" class=\"paragraph paragraph--station\">Prime sponsor Philadelphia Democrat Regina Young said the bill would require training for hotel and motel employees who have frequent contact with guests, including those at the front desk and housekeepers, to recognize and report suspected trafficking, and would extend to online booking sites like Airbnb and VRBO.<\/p>\n<p data-uri=\"www.audacy.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cmjddtt6b0020357v00svvdgf@published\" data-editable=\"text\" class=\"paragraph paragraph--station\">\u201cWe can end human trafficking through education and encouraging people to speak up when they see something wrong. It takes all of us to stand up for victims and be vigilant in prevention,\u201d Young said.<\/p>\n<p data-uri=\"www.audacy.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cmjddtt700021357v1sggnp3e@published\" data-editable=\"text\" class=\"paragraph paragraph--station\">The mandatory training explains some signals of human trafficking, including signs of mental or physical abuse, a person who doesn\u2019t know what city they are in or can\u2019t give a good explanation of why they are there, or someone controlling another person\u2019s identity and money.<\/p>\n<p data-uri=\"www.audacy.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cmjddtt7l0022357v35ju0zc9@published\" data-editable=\"text\" class=\"paragraph paragraph--station\">The bill has bipartisan sponsors, with Republican State Rep. Eric Nelson calling on the Senate to take up the legislation as major events like the World Cup, MLB All-Star Game, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.audacy.com\/kywnewsradio\/news\/local\/philly-launches-tourism-push-for-americas-250th-birthday\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener\">Semiquincentennial<\/a> come to Pennsylvania.<\/p>\n<p data-uri=\"www.audacy.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cmjddtt890023357vgnpdop6p@published\" data-editable=\"text\" class=\"paragraph paragraph--station\">\u201cThis is an excellent example of how when we work together with industry and respect, we can change the lives of Pennsylvanians,\u201d Nelson said.<\/p>\n<p data-uri=\"www.audacy.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cmjddtt9e0024357voa1a4i9p@published\" data-editable=\"text\" class=\"paragraph paragraph--station\">The bill has the backing of law enforcement and the Pennsylvania Restaurant and Lodging Association.
