PHOENIX (AZFamily)<\/b> \u2014 As we head into the weekend, we\u2019re looking at record-breaking temperatures likely for Sunday and Monday, followed by a chance of rain for Christmas.<\/p>\n
First Alert Weather Days have been declared for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day next week.<\/p>\n
But first, look for highs in the upper 70s on Saturday and a high of 81 degrees on Sunday, which would break the record of 79 degrees set back in 2024.<\/p>\n
Expect another record-breaking Monday with a high of 82 degrees. That would break a more than 100-year-old record of 79 degrees set back in 1917.<\/p>\n
These temperatures are running about 15 degrees above average for this time of year, all thanks to the ridge of high pressure positioned over the region.<\/p>\n
For the weekend, we will stay dry with sunny skies and breezy to windy conditions in the High Country, with gusts up to 30 mph possible. Then, cooler temperatures are on the way, and changes are to come as we head into the Christmas holiday!<\/p>\n
The ridge will start to shift eastward, and a trough will dive south off the west coast. This will filter moisture into the state by the middle of the week, bringing slight rain chances to Arizona for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. <\/p>\n
Still a few days out, there is still some uncertainty on just how much moisture it will bring to the state, but rain chances are around 30% for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. We aren\u2019t anticipating heavy showers; activity looks to be light.<\/p>\n
Temperatures will also drop into the 70s, which is still above average, but will be cooler than this weekend. We\u2019re looking at a high of 76 degrees on Wednesday and 75 degrees on Christmas Day.<\/p>\n
