And, according to the <a href=\"https:\/\/go.skimresources.com\/?id=1025X1701640&amp;xs=1&amp;url=https%3A%2F%2Fstore.steampowered.com%2Fsteamdeck\" rel=\"sponsored nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Steam Deck site<\/a>, it won\u2019t be coming back. Underneath the listings for the various models is a note that says:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"duet--article--blockquote ewrhy30 _1xwtict9\">\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup ewrhy38 _1xwtict1\">We are no longer producing the Steam Deck LCD 256GB model. Once sold out, it will no longer be available.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1ymtmqpi _17nnmdy1 _17nnmdy0 _1xwtict1\">And, well, it\u2019s no longer in stock on the US site.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1ymtmqpi _17nnmdy1 _17nnmdy0 _1xwtict1\">Valve\u2019s decision to phase out the Steam Deck LCD is disappointing. That means the most affordable Steam Deck is now the 512GB <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/23951655\/steam-deck-oled-review\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">OLED<\/a> model, which costs $549, quite a bit more than the former entry-level version.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1ymtmqpi _17nnmdy1 _17nnmdy0 _1xwtict1\">We\u2019ve reached out to Valve for comment, but have yet to hear back. Without an official explanation from the company, we\u2019re left to speculate about why the Steam Deck LCD was discontinued. Andy Hales at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.windowscentral.com\/hardware\/handheld-gaming-pc\/steam-deck-lcd-production-stopping\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Windows Central<\/a> suggests that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/news\/848199\/ram-shortage-pc-phone-price-increases\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">rising<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/report\/839506\/ram-shortage-price-increases-pc-gaming-smartphones\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">RAM<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/news\/837594\/crucial-ram-ssd-micron-ai\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">storage<\/a> prices (thanks, AI) have made it difficult to continue offering a handheld at that price point.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1ymtmqpi _17nnmdy1 _17nnmdy0 _1xwtict1\">The PC gaming handheld market is much more robust than it was when the Steam Deck first debuted in 2022, but it\u2019s hard to see any of the other players, like <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/news\/772853\/the-lenovo-legion-go-2-will-get-xbox-flavored-windows-in-spring-2026\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Lenovo<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/games\/799698\/xbox-ally-x-review-asus-microsoft-full-screen-experience\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">ASUS<\/a>, or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/games\/791460\/gpd-win-5-corded-handhelds\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">GPD<\/a>, filling that entry-level void.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"The most affordable Steam Deck, the $399 LCD model, is not available in the US.
