Dallas police<\/a> fatally shot a murder suspect Saturday near Town East Mall in Mesquite<\/a>, officials say. <\/p>\n

The shooting occurred near Town East Boulevard and the Lyndon B. Johnson Freeway, according to a post from the department on X. <\/p>\n

The post said officers were attempting to make a traffic stop, which \u201cled to an armed confrontation.\u201d <\/p>\n

The suspect, whom police did not identify, has died, police confirmed in the post. No officers were injured. <\/p>\n

Detectives gathered near what appeared to be a black body bag lying on a patch of grass just inches from the service road, where dozens of police vehicles were lined up behind a strip of caution tape. <\/p>\n

The mall, which remains open, appeared unaffected as holiday shoppers filled the parking lot. Meanwhile, officers on bikes patrolled the lot across the street from the mall\u2019s BJ\u2019s Restaurant & Brewhouse.<\/p>\n

No additional information was immediately available, but public information officers were on their way to the scene as of 1 p.m. to gather and share more information. <\/p>\n
