SAN ANTONIO<\/strong> \u2013 A man is hospitalized and is expected to face charges after a domestic violence-related call ended with a shooting involving a San Antonio Police Department officer, according to Chief William McManus.<\/p>\n

The shooting happened just after 2:30 p.m. Saturday near Southwest Military Drive and Interstate 35 South.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is a bit of a complicated story,\u201d McManus said. <\/p>\n

Officers were called out to a home around 2 p.m. in the 2000 block of Ann Arbor for a family violence call.<\/p>\n

The woman told police a man was breaking the windows of her vehicle. Police said the two were in a relationship, however, it is unclear if it was ongoing.<\/p>\n

The woman called a co-worker, who came to pick her up and they drove to their workplace, the chief said. When they arrived, the man was already there waiting.<\/p>\n

McManus said the woman and co-worker then left the area, traveling north on I-35. The man followed them.<\/p>\n

At the Southwest Military Drive turnaround, McManus said the man rammed the co-worker\u2019s vehicle, and gunfire began.<\/p>\n

McManus said there was a nearby San Antonio police officer, who returned fire at the vehicle he believed was shooting.<\/p>\n

The officer and the coworker fired shots, McManus said, but it is unclear whether the man was also shooting.<\/p>\n

The man, who has yet to be identified by police, was shot in his shoulder and taken to a hospital to treat non-life-threatening injuries.<\/p>\n

At this time, it is unclear whose bullet struck the man, McManus said.<\/p>\n

No other injuries were reported.<\/p>\n

McManus said the man could face a dating violence charge, with additional charges possible. <\/p>\n

According to a KSAT Investigates analysis, this marks at least the 14th time an SAPD officer has been involved in a shooting this year.<\/p>\n

The investigation remains ongoing.<\/p>\n
