Supermodel Anok Yai revealed she has been diagnosed with a congenital lung defect that\u2019s been \u201coverworking my heart and slowly destroying my lungs.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cFor the past year I\u2019ve been dealing with this silent battle,\u201d Yai, 28, wrote in her Friday\u00a0Instagram<\/a>\u00a0post, alongside several clips of her recovery in the hospital. <\/p>\n Noting that she had been \u201casymptomatic for the majority of my life,\u201d the model told her followers that she discovered the health issue after she developed a \u201clingering cough.\u201d<\/p>\n Supermodel Anok Yai revealed she was diagnosed with a congenital defect that has been \u201coverworking my heart and slowly destroying my lungs.\u201d Getty Images for BFC<\/p>\n Yai, 28, told her followers that she discovered the issue after being \u201casymptomatic for the majority of my life\u201d because of a \u201clingering cough.\u201d Anok Yai\/Instagram<\/p>\n \u201c[The cough] turned to chest pains, bouts of coughing up blood, then at times struggling to breathe,\u201d she recalled. <\/p>\n \u201cI chose to work through this while trying to find the right doctor and the right time. I quickly realized there was never going to be a \u2018right time\u2019 \u2014my health would continue to worsen.\u201d<\/p>\n While she initially believed she could \u201coutwork or outrun\u201d her problem, she soon realized that \u201cthe universe has a way of slowing you down and waking you up.\u201d<\/p>\n The cough somehow \u201cturned to chest pains, bouts of coughing up blood, then at times struggling to breathe,\u201d she said. Anok Yai\/Instagram<\/p>\n Still, the model (seen above in Feb. 2024) continued to work as she struggled on with her \u201csilent\u201d health battle.
