A mother and her five-month-old daughter were hospitalized on Sunday morning following a shooting that happened in West Philadelphia, police said. <\/p>\n
According to police, officers found the woman and her baby injured after they responded to the 1500 block of North Robinson Street in West Philadelphia for a report of a shooting at about 4:25 a.m. on Sunday. <\/p>\n
Officials said the mother — who police did not immediately provide further identifying information on — was shot at least six or seven times and her five-month-old daughter was shot once in the leg. <\/p>\n

Both mother and baby were taken to a nearby hospital but their conditions were not immediately known, police said. <\/p>\n
“It’s sad. It’s sad. That’s really cowardly, to shoot a baby and her mother,” said a distraught Purnell Tucker, a neighbor on the block. “Unbelievable.”<\/p>\n
Investigators believe at least seven shots were fired in this shooting and they are looking for a silver truck that the suspected gunman in this incident is believed to have fled the scene of the shooting in. <\/p>\n
The woman’s sister and another child, a boy, were in the house when the shooting occurred, officials said. <\/p>\n
On Sunday morning, a woman who identified herself as the victim’s sister said the mother hurt in the shooting is 43-years-old. <\/p>\n
