He was on the board of Mental Health America of San Diego County from 2008 to 2014, while I served as CEO. Dan demonstrated unwavering commitment to reducing stigma and promoting inclusion for those living with mental illness. His service honored his mother, Joy, and reflected his belief that leadership means showing up \u2014 even when it\u2019s not popular. Dan never hid his involvement; he attended events, engaged in dialogue and used his credibility to open doors for advocates who were too often excluded from decision-making tables. His courage and authenticity helped change perceptions and foster acceptance.
