PHOENIX \u2014 An investigation is underway after a body was found in a west Phoenix canal on Sunday morning, authorities said.<\/p>\n

According to the Phoenix Police Department, officers responded to the area of 36th and Whitton avenues<\/a> for reports of a body in the canal around 10:19 a.m.<\/p>\n

The Phoenix Fire Department also responded and determined that the individual was dead.<\/p>\n

Police said that crews were still on scene around noon removing the body from the canal.<\/p>\n

The identity of the person was not released.<\/p>\n

According to police, the investigation into how the individual died and ended up in the west Phoenix canal is underway.<\/p>\n
