PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) \u2014 A mother and her five-month-old daughter are recovering after they were shot early Sunday inside their home in West Philadelphia.<\/p>\n
The shooting happened around 4:30 a.m. on North Robinson Street near Lansdowne Avenue.
Police said the 43-year-old woman was shot multiple times, and the infant was struck once in the leg. Both victims were taken to the hospital and are expected to survive.<\/p>\n
The victims\u2019 sister, Amaryiah Mathis, was there when the shots rang out.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis morning I heard a pop pop, so I got up and went into my sister\u2019s room. There was blood everywhere,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cMy sister got up and ran into the bathroom. I was like, \u2018What happened?\u2019 She said, \u2018he shot me.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n
Authorities are searching for the father of the child, Faheem Waver, in connection with the shooting. Investigators said witnesses reported the suspect drove off in a silver truck.<\/p>\n
Mathis shared that despite the horror of it all, she believes in looking at what was gained, not lost, this holiday season.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m just blessed that my sister is here to see another day,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
The investigation is ongoing, and police have not released a motive.<\/p>\n
