JACKSONVILLE, Fla.<\/strong> \u2013 The family of a 16-year-old boy who was fatally shot<\/a> was mourning his loss as they prepared for his funeral. <\/p>\n

Amir Bostic, described by family as an A-B student with dreams of becoming a tattoo artist, died after he and two others were shot and rushed to a hospital.<\/p>\n

\u201cAmir was the joy of my family. Amir was the glue to our family,\u201d said his sister Zakiya Bostic. \u201cHe was my baby brother. We shared the same mom. He was everything to me. We were very close. This is my first best friend.\u201d<\/p>\n

The tragedy unfolded rapidly. Bostic spoke with her brother at 8:38 p.m., receiving the devastating call about the shooting less than an hour later at 9:30 p.m.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was actually supposed to come see him that Saturday. We were supposed to go Christmas shopping,\u201d Bostic said. \u201cHe told me he loved me and that he was gonna see me later. He never said goodbye. He always said, \u2018I\u2019ll see you later.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

Family members remembered Amir as a charismatic and talented young man who loved to draw. \u201cI want everybody to know Amir was the type of person – I\u2019ve never met nobody that young, who was so wise and just so caring, and he was full of kindness,\u201d his sister said. \u201cI\u2019ve never seen him cry. He was just always smiling, always happy.\u201d<\/p>\n

Police continued to investigate the shooting, as no arrests have been made. <\/p>\n

The Bostic family planned to participate in a community walk against gun violence on Jan. 3 with MAD DADS, a community organization working to combat violence.<\/p>\n
