{"id":464246,"date":"2025-12-22T11:34:13","date_gmt":"2025-12-22T11:34:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/464246\/"},"modified":"2025-12-22T11:34:13","modified_gmt":"2025-12-22T11:34:13","slug":"nhl-scouts-excited-about-chernyshov","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/464246\/","title":{"rendered":"NHL Scouts Excited About Chernyshov (+)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It\u2019s hard to see the San Jose Sharks sending Igor Chernyshov back to the AHL any time soon, the way he\u2019s playing.<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s what one NHL scout, not with the Sharks, texted San Jose Hockey Now, after watching Chernyshov\u2019s homestand debut this past week.<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s how good Chernyshov, who notched three assists in three games, has looked.<\/p>\n<p>So what does the rest of the league think that the 20-year-old winger\u2019s ceiling is? And what must he improve?<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s been a meteoric rise to the NHL for the San Jose Sharks\u2019 2024 second-round pick.<\/p>\n<p>Last year at this time, Chernyshov was recovering from summer shoulder surgery.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe\u2019s done a really good job of developing. I think at this time last year, he was rehabbing his injury and was around us. We probably didn\u2019t think he was gonna be this quick to help us,\u201d San Jose Sharks head coach Ryan Warsofsky admitted.<\/p>\n<p>The 6-foot-3 Russian started the 2024-25 season next to future Sharks prospect Michael Misa with the Saginaw Spirit, and torched the OHL, putting up 19 goals and 55 points in just 23 games.<\/p>\n<p>Chernyshov started this season in the AHL, his first full pro campaign in North America. He got off to a slow start with the San Jose Barracuda, with three assists in seven October contests. But he took off in November, scoring 10 goals and 16 points in 13 appearances, to win AHL Rookie of the Month. At the time of his Dec. 14 recall, he was leading the Cuda with both 11 goals and 23 points.<\/p>\n<p>Scout #1 sees a future second-line winger for the San Jose Sharks.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI like him,\u201d Scout #2 said. \u201cGood size, skilled, good down low. \u201cI think he has chance to be top-six winger.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSpeed is his best asset,\u201d Scout #3 said. \u201cMiddle-six winger.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLots to like,\u201d Scout #4 said. \u201cSize, skill, and skating. And often, it\u2019s consistency that sets the everyday\u2019ers apart.<\/p>\n<p>This might be the most impressive thing that I\u2019ve heard about Chernyshov this week.<\/p>\n<p>Even if Chernyshov can\u2019t keep it going in the NHL this year, he appears to have all the tools, also off the ice, for a long career.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWill be a player,\u201d Scout #4 said.<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s an ultimate hockey compliment\u2026so what\u2019s it mean?<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s honestly hard to explain until you\u2019ve experienced it, feel it, and see it. There are guys that are just extremely competitive, that live and breathe the game of hockey, and they\u2019ve got a big passion for it. Those are probably the big things that stick out for me when you say someone\u2019s a hockey player,\u201d Warsofsky explained. \u201cThere are people that like hockey and do it as a job, and [then] there are people that love it, they live it and breathe it, and it\u2019s everything about who they are.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>And that\u2019s Chernyshov, beyond the size and speed and skill.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe\u2019s a hockey player. You look at him, he\u2019s one of the first guys in the in the building. He works on his game. He\u2019s got a really good passion for the game,\u201d Warsofsky said. \u201cHe wants to play in the NHL. It\u2019s his dream, like every kid, but I think you can just see it.
