The artwork was inspired by the hands of Mission San Jos\u00e9 descendant Vincent Huizar, who passed away earlier this week. His legacy, as well as that of those who came before him, is honored through Perez\u2019s thoughtful design.<\/p>\n<p><b>Community collaboration at the heart of the project<\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">Perez and the project team collaborated closely with community partners, including the Mission San Jos\u00e9 Neighborhood Association, Mission Descendants, and the National Park Service.
